Macular degeneration is a medical condition that usually affects older adults and results in a loss of vision in the center of the visual field because of damage to the retina. This disease rarely causes totally blindness because only the center of vision is affected. People with macular degeneration feel difficult to read, drive, or perform other activities that require fine central vision. There is as yet no outright cure for this disease, but some treatments may delay it's progression even improve vision.
